So I thought about it a little over the weekend, and I decided I'd be in a good mood this week. Here are a few reasons why:

One of the big web design trends in the last year has been fixed headers. They look great (sometimes) and you can do some really creative things with them.  This article will explain how to make a fixed header that appears after the website scrolls up. Essentially, you'll have two headers. One fixed, and one scrolling. When doing this in Drupal 7 you'll run across several issues: What CSS changes do you need to...

While I've been developing my own personal site, I've figured out how to do a lot of cool things with jQuery in the process. I've known how to do tooltips for some time. There are literally dozens of ways you can do them. I wanted the most simple solution that looked good, had minimal changes in my code, and that I could use across any part of the site. I stumbled on a pretty cool way to do it. Here's how: HTML The...

I know a lot of people that are web designers. I also know a lot of web developers. It's difficult sometimes to classify myself as either one. I certainly feel like that is plenty of room for improvement in all areas. For the most part, I handle all of my websites totally alone. There are times when a client has provided preliminary designs or wireframes. Sometimes they know exactly what they want. I'd say 75% of the time, clients just know they...

My wife and I were talking about traveling somewhere soon, and I started thinking about the countries I've been to. 14 in all, not including the US. Now that I see them all on a map, it doesn't look all that impressive. Just as a note, landing in a country to change planes does not count. These are all countries that I have stayed in for more than a day, lived in, or traveled through as I was sightseeing. 1. Mexico  2....

I haven't posted on here in a long long time. Mainly, I suppose, because a lot of things have changed for me in the last year. Where to begin..... Kristin an I were married on Nov 12th, in Clayton NC. It was a beautiful and memorable event. We had so much fun and we both feel like things went off without a hitch. The music was great! We had a string quartet playing some beautiful classical music that I had picked out. A lot of people,...

Sorry I haven't written anything in a while. I've been asked by a few people what's going on and why I haven't written. There are a lot of things going on right now. The wedding date is set for Nov 12th of this year and it is coming up VERY fast. I'm also working on a website for the wedding, though, it isn't finished. You can see it at http://www.kristinandjasontietheknot.com :-) We had our engagement...

Kristin and I are back from Europe. We had a fantastic time in Spain and Germany. This trip was a little more special than Kristin originally thought it would be. But before I talk about that, let me back track and talk a little about our trip. We started off by staying in the town I used to live in when I studied in Germany. Tubingen is a quaint little town that really reminds me of Fredericksburg, VA. I think that is part of why I like...
